Rajasthan is set to conduct admissions to all veterinary colleges for the 2025–26 academic session through a centralised counselling process. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Animal Husbandry, Gopalan, Dairy and Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat at the State Secretariat.
According to the new standard operating procedure (SOP), only students who have qualified NEET or RPVT will be eligible for admission. No admissions will be granted after the prescribed cut-off.
The Committee will conduct counselling for about 1,200 seats, with all stages to be held online. If seats remain vacant after the regular rounds, they will be filled through a mop-up round. The number of vacant seats after each counselling phase will be displayed on the respective university websites.
It was informed that a seven-member Central Admission Counselling Committee has been formed, comprising professors from Bikaner and Jobner veterinary universities along with other officials. The Committee will oversee admissions to BVSc & AH, MVSc, and PhD courses in all government and private veterinary colleges in the state.
The meeting also reviewed Budget announcements regarding proposed veterinary colleges in Bharatpur, Sirohi, and Kota. Instructions were issued to take necessary steps for starting the admission process in the newly-constructed veterinary college in Jodhpur from the current session. Officials were directed to reverse any faculty transfers from Jodhpur to ensure adequate staffing.
The minister also instructed that admissions in RAJUVAS, Jobner University, and Tantia University in Sri Ganganagar be carried out in full compliance with the SOP. The SOP document was formally released during the meeting.
Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Gopalan Department Secretary Samit Sharma said that the entire process will be conducted online and in accordance with state government and Veterinary Council of India guidelines. Any veterinary college not adhering to these norms could face disaffiliation.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Vijay Godhwani, Additional Secretary Santosh Karol, Vice-Chancellor Tribhuvan Sharma of Jobner University, Vice-Chancellor Manoj Dixit of RAJUVAS, deans, directors, and other officials.
